Thank you for your continued prayer! I want to let you know that the requests I aske you to pray for last week were answered! I could feel the Holy Spirit's nudge each time I was tempted to be impatient with my wife. I did fail once but that was when we had 18 girl scouts in our house last night and I think my impatience was related more to the chaos of screaming 9 and 10 year old girls! (Still no excuses though - will keep woking on it) I am often reminded that when we ask for patience that God doesn't just "zap" that into you. He has already given us everything we need to be patient through His Holy Spirit. We just need opportunities to put it into practice. Answer #1!
What a great weekend with the elders. We spent time in praise and adoration focusing on Psalm 111. We spent an amazing time in self-examination and confession, individually and as a Board, based on Psalm 15. We spent time praying for the lost, our community, our church, our missionaries and the staff.
We also spent a great deal of time focusing on the "one anothers" found in scripture. We looked at just 23 of the over one hundred one another commands found in scripture starting with John 13:34-35 "love one another". To me it became clear that the "one anothers" are only possible when it is no longer I who live but Christ in me and when I am committed to fellowship/relationships. It's awful hard to do the "one another's when I am only concerned about me and the are no others in my life! I left Saturday energized and hopeful. Answer #2
God is doing great things at and through Arcade Church, we are blessed to be used by the creator of this Universe.
Despite a crazy week, I was able to spend enough time preparing for the message this week - answer #3!
My throat is still sore and I continue to fight some sort of respiartory bug, but God has been gracious in allowing me to have voice when necessary! Answer #4
Thank you for praying.
I want to challenge each of to something. Get involved in a corporate prayer time! If you are already invite someone to join you. There's Fresh Encounter Thursdays at 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. I lead a prayer time Sunday mornings at 6:15 am in the Bride's Room, where we study a Psalm, spend time in prayer worshiping and then praying. There is a Tuesday morning 6:30am prayer time for men. There are others, the point is we need to be praying for one another (James 5:16). Get involved, see how your life will change!
Prayer requests for this week
1) I am not preaching Sunday. Pray for a restful week after some a couple of hectic weeks. I am also taking some time this week to spend with my wife and kids, pray for a profitable time with them.
2) Pray for Daniel Henderson who will be preaching. I know he has a busy week before arriving at Arcade
3) Continue to pray for my throat, it remains raw and sore.
4) Pray for my son Noah. He has been diagnosed as having an immunoglobulin Gg1 deficiency. We see a specialist next week. It may be nothing and easily treated, but he is a little scared (his mom and dad too!)
Thank you so much for praying for me and the entire pastoral/elder team.
